The Apollo annotation tool is a plugin for JBrowse that allows registered users to manually edit genes or annotate new genes. After registered users select "ARS-UCD1.2" under "JBrowse" in the BGD navigation bar above, they can click "login" located on the right end of the upper blue bar to activate the Apollo annotation tools. Users who do not wish to login can still use the navigation tools in JBrowse to view genes and other tracks without editing.
Click here to register to annotate genes on the ARS-UCD1.2 assembly using Bovine Apollo. Note that your full name and actual email address are required for registration. If you provide an official university or government email address, we will create your account and get back to you without further question. With a commercial or non-official email address, we will send you an email to inquire about your institution and your interest in bovine genome annotation. We take these cautionary measures to protect the submitted data of other users. You may contact the BGD Administrator if you have any questions about registering for Apollo.
Researchers who wish to view and export existing user annotations can login with the username bovine_guest and password guest. This will not allow editing or annotating new genes.
Additionally, if you wish to practice using Bovine Apollo without registering, you can access the Bovine Apollo Demo via the pulldown menu above.
The Apollo development website provides a user guide with technical details.
